Meditation, in broad terms, is simply the practice of breathing and posture to attain higher states of awareness or to induce altered states of consciousness.  What this means is, for example, we want to alter our consciousness from a stressed state to a calm state.  Although there are many different forms of meditation, they all share a single commonality.  Meditation simply stated, is a state of relaxed concentration on some thought or awareness.


In these classes, we will discuss what meditation is and its various benefits.  The students will learn different ways to meditate and how to bring it into their regular routine.   These techniques will teach them how to breathe, relax and clear their mind.  This simple technique will be something they can use in their daily lives.  Teens experience stress, tension and frustration, particularly before events such as tests and exams, and this will be an opportunity for them to learn a gentle, yet effective coping skill and how beneficial it is for reducing stress.
